3 Summer Dangers You Need To Know About

While summer is finally coming to a close, the hot weather is still persistent throughout the next few months. This hot weather allows you and your family to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather, but it is always important to do so carefully. There are a few things you can do to stay healthy and safe during the summer, so let’s look at a few of these things.

Dehydration

Dehydration is onset when the body lacks the amount of water it needs based on the exertion put on the body. The physical symptoms associated with dehydration include diarrhea, dizziness, dry mouth, sweating, and vomiting. Extreme heat and exertion can make people more susceptible to dehydration during the summer, but there are few things you can do to limit the risk of dehydration. Be sure to carry a water bottle, where the right clothing, eat the right foods, and always take a break to stay away from dehydration as much as you can.

Heat Exhaustion

Heat exhaustion occurs when the body overheats, and in conjunction with exposure to high temperatures and humidity, heat exhaustion plays a great role in being a big risk this summer. If you or your child is currently experiencing fatigue, headaches, muscle cramps, or nausea, then you may be experiencing heat exhaustion. To treat it, be sure to stay hydrated, apply sunscreen, wear lightweight clothing, and rest frequently.

Ticks

Ticks thrive in the summer when hot and humid conditions are common. Ticks may carry Lyme disease, a condition that onsets fatigues, headaches, and other lasting physical symptoms. Lyme disease is transmitted through a bite of an infected black-legged tick. Some of the best ways to prevent being bitten by a tick include using insect repellent, performing a tick check, and always knowing where to expect ticks.
